Day 1 – ISTANBUL – CAPPADOCIA
Departure according to flight plan.
Arrival in Cappadocia via Istanbul.
Assistance, transfer to the hotel and accommodation.
Day 2 – CAPPADOCIA
Breakfast. Today we will visit the region of Cappadocia where Saint George was born; unique in the world that combines the whims of nature with places of great cultural interest. We will begin our tour with the underground city of Kaymakli or another similar one, built by Christian communities to protect themselves from Arab attacks. Next we will visit the Güvercinlik (dovecote) valley and admire a wonderful panoramic view of the Uchisar castle, located on top of a promontory of volcanic rock pierced by tunnels and windows. We will make a stop at an artisan decoration and jewelry workshop. After lunch, we will visit the Avcilar (hunters) valley. Next we will visit the Göreme open-air museum, which preserves an impressive set of churches, chapels and monasteries excavated in the rock with frescoes from the 11th century that were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We will make a stop at a carpet and kilim workshop. Back to the hotel. Dinner and accommodation. At night you can optionally attend a Turkish folk dance show.
Day 3 – CAPPADOCIA
Breakfast. Optionally, you can take a spectacular hot air balloon ride at dawn. Departure to visit the small and beautiful town of Ortahisar, which is notable for its castle of high geological formation 86 m high and converted into homes by the Hittites. Next we will make a stop to see the famous "Three Beauties of Ürgüp", where you can see the mushroom-shaped rock formations and a panorama of the city of Ürgüp. We continue to visit the walk through the fascinating Dervent Valley, known as the valley of the “fairy chimneys”, where the stone eroded by the wind and the action of water on volcanic terrain has given rise to a spectacular landscape formed by peaks , cones and obelisks. Next we will visit the town of Avanos, today it is famous for its pottery crafts since Hittite times. We will make a stop at a pottery workshop. Lunch, In the afternoon we continue with the visit to the Zelve valley, it is formed by two canyons and where Muslims and Christians lived together until 1924. The slopes on the right side are pink, and those on the left dominated by white. Next we will visit the Cavusin Valley, where the houses dug into the side of a hill have lavishly decorated facades, a beauty that remains over time. Back to the hotel. Dinner and accommodation. At night you can optionally attend a ceremony (sema) of whirling dervishes.
Day 4 – CAPPADOCIA – PAMUKKALE
Full board. Early departure to visit the Seleucid Caravanserai “Sultanhani”, located on the legendary Silk Road, and which served as a stopping place for trade, pilgrimage or military caravans. Continuation to Pamukkale, or “cotton castle”, a small town famous for its petrified white travertine pools formed by the lime that contains the water from the thermal springs that emanate in the area. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 5 – PAMUKKALE – EPHESUS – ISTANBUL
Half pension. In the morning, visit Hierapolis, an ancient spa city founded around 190 BC. by the king of Pergamon prospering greatly during the Roman era, it was built on top of the pools with a beautiful theater and large necropolis. Next, departure to Ephesus, the best preserved classical city in Turkey built in the year 1,000 BC (the remains we see today are from the 4th century BC) where we will highlight: the Library of Celsus, the temple of Hadrian and its great theater. Later, we will visit the Basilica of Saint John, built by Emperor Justinian over the tomb of the Apostle Saint John, who died in Ephesus. It was erected in 548 at the foot of the ancient acropolis of Ephesus and was destroyed due to wars, conflicts and earthquakes. Currently only its ruins remain. At the end we will make a stop at one of the places where parades are held and leather clothing is sold. Then transfer to Izmir airport to take a regular flight to Istanbul. Arrive and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.
Day 6 – ISTANBUL
Breakfast. Half day “CLASSIC” visit: We will begin by visiting the Basilica of Saint Sophia “Divine Wisdom”, it is unquestionably one of the most fantastic buildings of all time. It was built by Constantine the Great and rebuilt by Justinian in the 6th century, its immense dome rises 55 meters from the ground, with a diameter of 31 meters. During the Ottoman Empire it was converted into a mosque and over time minarets were added. We will continue visiting the old Hippodrome that belongs to the Byzantine era, which was the center of civil activity in the country and where not only horse races and gladiatorial combats were held, but also celebrations in honor of the Emperor. Today it preserves the Obelisk of Theodosius, the Serpentine Column and the Fountain of Emperor William. Blue Mosque that was built in 1609 during the Sultanate of Ahmet who, wanting to surpass the Hagia Sophia with his mosque, built it with 6 minarets. The excursion ends here, with the return to the hotel being at the clients' expense. Free afternoon to explore the city or take the optional “Topkapi Palace” excursion. Accommodation.
Day 7 – ISTANBUL
Breakfast. Half day visit to the “GOLDEN HORN”: We will begin by visiting the famous Pierre Loti café which is on the top of the hill in the Eyup neighborhood and has a great view of the Golden Horn. Free time to enjoy the view with the possibility of taking coffee or tea. Then we will go to the Cathedral of Saint George, it is the fifth church in Constantinople that has housed the ecumenical patriarchate since the 15th century. Formerly a convent for Orthodox nuns, it was converted into the patriarchal offices by Patriarch Matthew II (1598-1601). On the way, we will see a part of the walls of Constantinople, once an impenetrable fortification, stretching for seven kilometers from the Sea of Marmara to the Golden Horn. Next we will visit the Soliman Mosque, considered the most beautiful in The imperial mosques of Istanbul, was built between 1550 and 1557 by Sinan, the famous architect of the Ottoman Golden Age. The excursion ends here, with the return to the hotel being at the clients' expense. Free afternoon to explore the city or take the optional “Bosphorus” excursion. Accommodation.
Day 8 – COMING HOME
Breakfast (you may miss it, depending on the time of the transfer to the airport). At the indicated time transfer to the airport to take the return flight. End of our services.
